About Our Academic English Courses in Dubai
1. Course Description
This course is designed to provide support for students in Grades 10 to 12 who require academic reading and writing skills for the exams they sit at school (IGSE, GSE, A levels, IB). It is suitable for students who study English as a second language and native speakers of English who require reinforcement and practice of Academic English. Students will study the syllabus as outlined below and will also received support tailored to their individual needs as determined by their school’s assessment strategy.
This course also serves as a foundation for the skills required for Academic IELTS and it is recommended that students complete the Academic Support Course before taking the Academic IELTS course.
2. Course Goals
This course aims to improve the following:Student ability to express themselves orally and in writing in an academic environmentStudent ability to understand academic texts and discourse required for school examsStudent confidence in all 4 areas noted above
A2 - 100 - 150 hours
B1.1 - 100 - 120 hours
B1.2 - 100 - 120 hours
B2 - 100 - 200 hours
CEFR is the abbreviation for Common European Framework of Reference. It is an international standard for describing language ability. It is used around the world to describe learners' language skills. The CEFR was designed to give learners and teachers an indication of what should be taught in each level and how long students approximately need to study for in each level. See below the average number of study hours needed to successfully complete each level.
