Purpose

At Speak English Language Institute, we are committed to creating a positive and respectful learning environment for all students and staff. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected from all students, both in academic settings and personal interactions.

Studying at the Institute offers the chance to connect with a diverse and international community. To support a productive and inclusive atmosphere, all students are expected to follow the principles outlined below.

Who This Code Applies To

This Code of Conduct applies to all students of Speak English Language Institute, regardless of course type or study format. This includes:
  •  Group and private course students (English and Arabic)
  •  Full-time and part-time students
  •  Study Abroad participants
  •  Social event attendees (including friends or family when on-site)

It also applies to all student behaviour that affects other students, staff, or the Institute—whether in class, in common areas, during events, or online.

Definitions
 
  • Student: Anyone enrolled in a course, attending events, or participating in any official activity at the Institute.
  • Employee: All members of staff at Speak English Institute, including full-time, part-time, and casual staff.

Personal Conduct

All students must:
  • Treat others (students, teachers, staff, and visitors) with respect, courtesy, and kindness
  •  Be cooperative and maintain a positive attitude in group or class settings
  • Act honestly and ethically in all personal and professional interactions
  •  Respect the privacy and personal space of others
  • Avoid behaviour that disrupts learning or work in classrooms, reception, or student areas
  • Never engage in or support bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind

Examples:
✅ Do: Greet others politely, listen when someone is speaking, report inappropriate behaviour
❌ Don’t: Use offensive language, spread rumours, interrupt others in class

Academic Conduct

All students must:
  • Read and respond to official communication from the Institute (emails, notices, etc.)
  • Complete all assignments, tests, and projects with honesty and integrity
  • Avoid cheating, plagiarism, or helping others gain an unfair academic advantage
  • Respect the rights of other students to learn without disruption
  • Use Institute resources (like Wi-Fi, computers, or printing) responsibly and for learning purposes unless permission is given for personal use

Digital Conduct

All students must:
  • Use respectful and professional language in all online communication
  • Avoid sharing inappropriate content (messages, images, or links)
  • Keep others’ personal information private (including photos and videos)
  • Follow classroom rules for using mobile phones, tablets, and other devices

Consequences for Misconduct

If a student does not follow this Code of Conduct, the Institute may take one or more of the following actions:
 1. A verbal or written warning
 2. A meeting with academic or administrative staff
 3. Suspension from classes or activities
 4. Permanent dismissal from the Institute (in serious cases)

The goal is always to resolve issues respectfully and fairly.
