Moving to Ras Al Khaimah with children brings with it the important question of schooling. The emirate has expanded considerably over the past decade, and with that growth has come a broader range of educational options. Whether you are looking for a British curriculum, an American system, or an IB programme, RAK now has schools worth serious consideration.
The first decision is curriculum. British curriculum schools follow the National Curriculum of England, leading to IGCSEs and A-Levels, which are widely recognised by universities in the UK, Europe, Australia, and the Gulf. American curriculum schools lead to the High School Diploma and are well regarded for university applications in the United States and Canada. RAK is more compact than Dubai, but traffic around school drop-off times can still be considerable in certain areas. Consider how far the school is from your home or workplace, whether a school bus service covers your neighbourhood, and what the journey looks like on an ordinary working morning. Choosing a highly rated school that adds an hour to your commute each day has practical costs that add up over the course of a school year.

Pay attention to how staff interact with students in the corridors, whether the environment feels orderly and purposeful, and how warmly the admissions team welcomes your questions. A school that is transparently proud of what it does will welcome your visit and give you access to teachers and perhaps even current parents.
